Joining McJohn and his infamous “Hammond B3 organ” on the 2010 tour is a who’s who list of music legends, including Glen Bui (recording artist/founding member of Pegasus, touring with Waylon Jennings, Eddie Money, Tower of Power and others), Tony Coleman (drummer for BB King), Roger Fisher (founding member of Heart and Alias), Lloyd Poole (touring with Aerosmith, Van Morrison, Sugarloaf, Journey, Santana, Ozzy Osborne and others) Charlie Souza (Tom Petty, The New Rascals, Cactus, Greg Allman) along with rock music newcomers Erick Brewer and MCR’s lead singer, Rob “Gator” Kendrick.
STEPPENWOLF launched into music superstardom in the 60’s, with one of the band’s biggest hits, “Born To Be Wild” gaining worldwide acclaim and millions of fans via the Oscar winning film, “Easy Rider.” McJohn and the “Magic Carpet Ride” tour will be taking concert-goers back to those irreverent, passionate and musically groundbreaking days by performing the band’s many hits, including “Born to Be Wild,” “The Pusher,” “Magic Carpet Ride” and numerous other songs which defined those revolutionary times.
McJohn states, “In these times of economic and political confusion and uncertainty, the public is desperately seeking a way to escape their reality, if even just for a few hours. In the 60’s, the music of Steppenwolf defined an entire generation and now 40 years later, the music still has the ability to make a statement on a new world and a new generation. The “Magic Carpet Ride” tour will be just that – a wild ride back, and a brief escape from a very crazy world!”
